Where cosmetics originated from?

The first evidence of people using cosmetics was in Egypt around 3500 BC. The Egyptians used alot of black eye make up such as eyeliner or liquid eyeliner.
The Ancient Greeks and Romans also used cosmetics that contained poisonous substances such as mercury and lead.

In the middle ages many women used cosmetics even though the church leaders didnt like that they wore it.
All the women wanted to have pale skin so they used flour , pastes of lead and chalk to make them look pale.

Over the years cosmetics and make up have been frowned upon by many different leaders and queens but they allowed actors to wear make up on stage.

When it came to the 20th century cosmetics and make up were used all over the world by many women.
The badly made cosmetics have had bad side effects on people over the years when it was first around. It caused blindness, skin diseases and the mercury and lead caused blood poisoning and killed many people.
